Since the early 1960s, Church Fenton has been primarily a training unit, and its level of activity and role seen many changes. At various times a number of units have flown the Chipmunk and Jet Provost from the airfield, both in the pilot training roles. |
| More recently, with the return of YUAS yet again to this station, the pilot training role has been continued, initially with the Bulldog and now, since Aug 2000, with the Grob Tutor. At present the only other flying unit on the station is the RAF element of the Joint Elementary Flying Training school, flying yet another different training aircraft, the Slingsby Firefly. |
